According to Silvio Dante, Burt switched sides during the Lupertazzi/Soprano war, and went to Sil to convince him to go along in a coup d'etat, but Sil responded by strangling him to death not long after with a garrote.
After his retirement had been refused and the FBI told him they needed him to stay in New Jersey to take the place of the recently deceased Raymond Curto - all Eugene's hopes for a way out of mob life are eliminated. Eugene commits suicide by hanging in his basement. Had he not killed himself, he presumably would have made Capo after Vito was killed, but may have eventually been murdered himself if his FBI status had ever been discovered.
Vito returned to Jersey from hiding and tried to "buy himself back" into the business by secretly paying Tony $200K, and offered to run the family's Atlantic City prostitution and drug businesses. Tony was initially tempted by the offer, but knowing this would mean war with Phil Leotardo, he quietly arranged for Vito's death at the hands of Carlo Gervasi. When Vito returned to his motel room where (unknown to Tony) he was surprised by Phil Leotardo and two of his soldiers who taped Vito's mouth shut and beat him to death with while Phil watched.
Unexpectedly, Raymond died of a stroke in 2006 while giving potentially damaging information to Agent Sanseverino about Tony (Ray indicated he had a poor sound quality tape of Tony discussing a murder).
A helpless Christopher Moltisanti was suffocated to death by Tony Soprano after both were involved in a car accident. Soprano had become aware of Christopher's relapse into drugs — he was fearful that Chris' drug addiction might cause him to "flip" and was growing tired of Chris' recklessness and increasingly erratic behavior.
While Junior was in the Wyckoff therapeutic center, he began to put portions of his old life back together. He still collects weekly payments and is sometimes visited by Pat Blundetto and Beppy Scerbo. Within the home, Junior behaved like a typical Mafia boss; bribing orderlies, running card games and physically abusing rivals. However eventually he agrees to take medication. The result is numbing as he loses his personality and aggressiveness.
After Chris' death, the Soprano Family used Corky again through Patsy Parisi. The target this time was Phil Leotardo, but Corky was not as successful. The hit was botched badly and innocents were killed. When Corky learned of the horrible turn of events, he didmissed it, having no idea of the gravity of the mistake.
Recently, Dante has been acting as Tony's driver and bodyguard, carrying around a sawn-off shotgun.
Murmur was responsible for informing Tony that Phil Leotardo had a heart attack - Tony had warmed to him a little by this point and rewarded him with a club soda. Ironically, he later (unknowingly) informed Paulie and Silvio, by showing them a newspaper article on the murders of two civilians, that Phil Leotardo is still alive and the job to kill him failed because the hitmen misidentified their target.
Beppy was sometimes seen with Pat Blundetto visiting Junior at the Wyckoff therapeutic center.
Pat was sometimes seen with Beppy Scerbo visiting Junior at the Wyckoff therapeutic center.
Albert continued working for the family, under his cousin, Larry Boy Barese.
Walden became the newest addition to the Gervasi crew and was seen in the back of Satriale's Pork Store with the rest of the crew.
Benny was "made" in 2007. He was present at a card game where Little Paulie Germani was thrown out of a window by Christopher. Benny, shocked by what Chris has done, called an ambulance. He has also accompanied Tony and crew in Atlantic City while Tony gambled away a lot of money. Following Chris' death, Benny was saddened, as the two were close, but consoled himself with the thought that Chris had persevered to battle his drug problem
Little Paulie is badly hurt after being pushed out of a window by Christopher Moltisanti over a feud between Paulie Walnuts and himself. He suffers 6 broken vertebrae.
After Chris' death, Patsy Parisi was put in charge of the hit on Phil Leotardo, he used Corky Caporale to organize the hitmen.
After Raymond Curto died, no immediate successor was named to replace him.
Larry Boy had routinely broken the terms of his bail since his release in order to run business and socialise, including giving a toast at Christopher Moltisanti's belated bachelor party. In 2007 Larry was finally arrested at the premiere after-party for "Cleaver" by federal marshals for violating house arrest.
Soprano later placed Gervasi in charge of Spatafore's construction business, but he was disappointed with Gervasi's earning capacity in this new role. Gervasi has a son named Jason who attends Rutgers University and is involved in gambling and loansharking there.
After Chris died, no immediate successor was named to replace him.
Tony informs Bobby Baccala that he is considering him to replace Christopher as his right-hand-man and eventual successor. Tony and Carmela spend a weekend with Bobby and Janice to celebrate Tony's 47th birthday. During a drunken argument in which Tony verbally abused Janice, Bobby Baccala struck and fought him, winning the fight. The next day Tony and Bobby make amends.
After Chris died, no immediate successor was named to replace him.
Paulie stepped aside as underboss as after beating cancer he bagen undergoing a course of radiotherapy. After Paulie and Tony go to Miami to lay low after the FBI investigates an old murder case. In Miami, Tony grows weary of Paulie's mannerisms and tendencies to blab information to other people and questions him several times about the joke Ralph Cifaretto made about Ginny Sacrimoni's weight. Tony takes Paulie on a fishing trip to celebrate. While Tony seriously considers murdering Paulie, he ultimately decides to spare his life.
Silvio was out at lunch with Gerry Torciano, the man Phil Leotardo wanted to take over as boss of the New York Family (since Johnny Sack died from cancer), when one of Doc Santoro's assassins killed Torciano. This outraged Tony, as Silvio could have been hurt during that altercation. Afterward, Phil was made Boss.
Tony, in his first act to groom Bobby as his successor, named him acting underboss to the family and stood in for Paulie Gualtieri during the aging mobsters battle with cancer. While Bobby would no longer have this position officially after Paulie recovers, he remained prominently at the heights of the organization's hierarchy and carried out the majority of Paulie's duties as underboss, mostly because Tony feels that Paulie became far less competent.
After Johnny Sack died of lung cancer, it created an opening for the Boss of the New York Family. Tony visits Carmine Jr and states he will back him in a bid for Boss, but Carmine refuses the job - Phil Leotardo becomes Boss, much to Tonys' dismay. After a member of Phil's crew threatens Meadow, Tony savagely beats him. Phil refuses to make peace and decides to wipe out the Jersey Family by hitting Tony, Silvio and Bobby. Tony attempts to strike first by assassinating Phil, but the hit is botched and Phil's mistress and her elderly father are killed. Phil goes into hiding and Tony awaits the backlash...
